Why doesn't portrait mode work correctly in menus?

Currently only the main window in the Maemo version for Nokia N900 of Currency Converter supports portrait mode. When using the Favourite selector or any of the settings windows, you should operate the device in landscape mode. The Symbian version of Currency Converter works only in portrait mode in the first place.
